Narrator

Frank and Tina are looking at the café menu. Tina brings up a conversation they had after a philosophy lecture years ago.

Tina01

Remember that lecture? You wondered whether the doctor had even chosen your taste in coffee.

Frank02

I do. I still think about it, but it worries me less.

Tina03

What helped?

Frank04

Baking, for example. I made you that cake because I wanted you to feel welcome in my home.

Tina05

And drawing?

Frank06

Yes. Nobody asked me to sketch the lab. I did it for fun.

Tina07

So those ordinary choices count?

Frank08

I think they do. I may never know how much the doctor influenced my tastes. That doesn't mean he decides what I do now.

Tina09

What about your jacket? I chose that.

Frank10

You chose the jacket. I chose to wear it outside, despite being terrified. Accepting a gift is a choice too.

Tina11

Fair enough. What do you feel like ordering?

Frank12

Chocolate cake. Want to share a slice?

Tina13

I'll make my own choice too. I'm having a whole slice.
