Narrator

Tina posted the winning number from the community center raffle — but she swapped two digits. Now two people think they've won Mrs. Okada's hand-knitted scarf. Tina is meeting a communications advisor to draft a correction.

Advisor01

Walk me through it. What happened?

Tina02

I posted the winning number as 418. It was actually 481. Now two people are claiming Mrs. Okada's scarf.

Advisor03

Has the person with 418 picked it up yet?

Tina04

Not yet. But he's already told his whole family. His post says, "Finally, some luck!"

Advisor05

Then call him personally before you post any public correction.

Tina06

I've already called both ticket holders. I've drafted a correction too. Can I read it to you?

Advisor07

Go ahead.

Tina08

"I am so, so deeply sorry. I have let down the whole community, and I will never forgive myself—"

Advisor09

Let me stop you there. It's a typo, not a tragedy. Say what happened, give the correct number, and say what you're doing about it.

Tina10

"I'm sorry I posted the wrong winning number. The correct number is 481. I've contacted both ticket holders. From now on, I'll double-check every number before posting."

Advisor11

Much better. Short, clear, no drama. And how did the 418 holder take it?

Tina12

He was disappointed. But Mrs. Okada offered to knit him another scarf with "418" on it. Now he calls it his lucky number.

Advisor13

Lovely. Just make sure she doesn't knit "481."
