WORDS & CONTEXT

Words & context

“Anything to drink?”

Anything to drink? shortens Would you like anything to drink? It is a standard restaurant question asking whether a customer wants a beverage.

“She will have the spaghetti.”

When ordering, have means to eat or drink, rather than possess. I'll have … is a standard way to choose an item. Here Frank orders on Tina's behalf with She will have the spaghetti.

“That's basically pink.”

Basically means essentially or approximately. Tina stretches the logic by claiming that extra tomato sauce makes the dish almost pink. Frank's It is red, Tina. answers that claim.
