ONE PHRASE AT A TIME

Phrases & chunks

Longer phrases.Smaller steps.

Whole-phrase practice is the default. Switch to shorter chunks when a phrase feels too long. With either unit, speak along with the model or just after it finishes.

Speak along or just after the model finishes.

  3. 03

    Practice the same segment

Repeat according to the speed sequence or required qualifying attempts.

  4. 04

    Move to the next segment

Continue to the next chunk, or to the next phrase once the whole phrase is complete.

Choose the practice unit separately from speed or repetition mode. Chunks are audio segments and do not always match units of meaning.

01

Start with a whole phrase.

Listen to an entire phrase and say it aloud. You can use either speed mode or repetition mode.

02

Break long phrases into chunks.

Practice short audio chunks in order. In speed mode, complete the speed sequence for each chunk before moving on. In repetition mode, one pass through every chunk is one set; repeat for the required number of sets.

03

From one phrase to the whole lesson.

After completing practice within a phrase, move to the next phrase. Whether the lesson repeats after the last phrase depends on the lesson repeat setting, which is separate from repetition within a phrase.
