Narrator

Tina is looking at an apartment with an agent. Frank has come along. The kitchen was renovated and the windows were replaced last year.

Agent01

The walls are all white right now, but you're free to repaint.

Tina02

Free? Then it's pink. All of it. Pink.

Frank03

...All of it.

Agent04

Right. And the kitchen was fully renovated last year.

Tina05

The floor does look brand new. Picture it: pink walls, morning sun—

Frank06

—Does it stay warm in winter?

Agent07

Yes, we put in new windows last spring to keep the cold out.

Tina08

Anyway, as I was saying — pink walls, morning sun, and warm all winter. I want to live here!

Frank09

You still haven't asked about the rent.

Tina10

I know. I'm afraid to ask! Let me sleep on it. My bank account might have other ideas.

WORDS & CONTEXT

Words & context

“Anyway, as I was saying —”

As I was saying returns to a point interrupted earlier. Adding Anyway makes the return to the topic clearer. After being interrupted by a question about heating, Tina goes back to discussing the pink walls.

“Let me sleep on it.”

Sleep on it means to wait until the next day before deciding, rather than literally sleep on something. It is useful when you do not want to decide immediately about a major purchase or contract.

“My bank account might have other ideas.”

Have other ideas means to think differently. Tina personifies her bank account: she likes the apartment, but her balance may disagree. The joke expresses concern about affording the rent.
