WORDS & CONTEXT

Words & context

“Not bad.” / “Rematch!”

Although Not bad. literally denies that something is bad, it often means “Pretty good!” Rematch! calls for another game, usually from the person who lost. A match is a game or contest.

“No way!”

No way! is a common expression of disbelief: “That can't be true!” It does not literally mean there is no road. Remembering another meaning of way, “method,” may help: there is no possible way that could happen.
