WORDS & CONTEXT

Words & context

“plain”

Plain means simple or without decoration; for food, it can also mean without added flavoring. Tina uses it critically about vanilla, but Frank treats simplicity as a virtue: Plain is good. Plain is safe.

“Tell no one.”

Tell no one. is a more emphatic, slightly theatrical alternative to Don't tell anyone. Frank has admitted that the pink ice cream tastes better and, feeling embarrassed, asks Tina to keep it secret.
