It is in the mountains. Far from here. Very quiet.

山の中だよ。ここから遠い。とても静かだ。

Tina03

Quiet? No music? No dancing? No people?

静か?音楽なし?ダンスなし?人もいない?

Frank04

A few people. They are quiet and kind.

少しはいるよ。みんな物静かで親切だ。

WORDS & CONTEXT

Words & context

“So quiet you can hear the snow?”

So … (that) … describes a degree that produces a result. Here that is omitted: So quiet (that) you can hear the snow? means “Is it quiet enough to hear the snow?” Omitting that is common in conversation.

“I would miss the noise.”

Here miss means to feel sad because someone or something is absent, rather than to fail to catch something. I would miss … describes a hypothetical feeling if the speaker were away. Frank's I would miss the snow. uses the same pattern, and I'll miss you. in A1-60 uses the same meaning of miss.
