Narrator

Frank and Tina are in the school cafeteria. It is lunchtime.

Tina01

I'm soooo hungry! I need food now!

Frank02

Calm down. We should get in line.

Tina03

I'm so weak... so tired... so hungry.

Frank04

You said that this morning. And yesterday.

Tina05

Hunger is no joke, Frank!

Frank06

Okay, okay. Let's order first.

Tina07

A burger! And fries! And a shake!

Frank08

That is a lot for a "weak, tired" person.

Tina09

I'm strong now. The smell cured me!

WORDS & CONTEXT

Words & context

“soooo”

Soooo stretches the spelling of so to suggest a long, emphatic sound, much like drawing out a word when saying “I'm so hungry!” The same spelling appears in soooo bored in A1-27.

“Hunger is no joke”

Something is no joke means that it is serious, or no laughing matter. Tina uses hunger as the subject to make an exaggerated appeal: “Don't underestimate being hungry!”

“a shake”

Shake is short for milkshake, a standard drink at a burger restaurant. A burger, fries, and a shake is a classic American combination.
