Narrator

Frank and Tina, who are close friends, are at a wedding reception. They're talking beside the dessert table.

Tina01

That's the third "When are you two getting married?" tonight.

Frank02

We agreed we'd just say "We're friends," but people still think we're dating.

Tina03

Maybe we should joke: "We're keeping everyone guessing."

Frank04

Wouldn't that make it sound like we're secretly dating?

Tina05

True. Then what about "You'll be the first to know"?

Frank06

That sounds like we're planning a wedding. I'd rather be clear.

Tina07

All right. What's your version?

Frank08

"We're good friends, but we're not a couple." Then change the subject.

Tina09

Here's the bride's uncle. Your turn.

Uncle10

You two make a lovely couple! When's your turn?

Frank11

We're good friends, but we're not a couple. Have you tried the lemon cake? It's excellent.

Uncle12

Oh, sorry! My mistake. I'll go try some.

Tina13

That worked. ...And there goes the last slice. I was going to have that.
