WORDS & CONTEXT

Words & context

“keep talking” / “Five more minutes?”

Keep -ing means to continue an action, so Let's keep talking! suggests continuing the conversation. Five more minutes? asks for an additional five minutes; more marks the extra amount.

“I have so much to tell you!” / “Then write it down.”

So much to tell you means a lot of things to tell you. Write it down means to make a note of something; it refers to what Tina wants to talk about. Frank suggests writing it down, but Tina would rather talk with Frank than write.

“Three minutes. Then I want some quiet.”

Here then means "after that," and some quiet means some quiet time. Frank answers Tina's request for five more minutes by cutting it to three. The punchline is that he stays a little longer while still protecting his own quiet time.
