WORDS & CONTEXT

Words & context

“juicy news” / “Did you hear?” / “follow gossip”

Juicy literally describes something full of juice, but juicy news means enticing or interesting gossip. Did you hear? commonly introduces gossip or a new topic. Follow gossip means to keep up with it, like follow the news.

“a funny pair”

Funny can mean strange as well as amusing. Here a funny pair means an unusual pair, rather than two people who make others laugh. Frank accepts the description with That one is true.
