Late Night Recall
昔の会話を振り返って答え直す
場面二人が初めて会った同じ建物のラボ、夜遅く。
It's late. Tina has come to pick Frank up from the lab building — the same building where they first met.
夜遅く。ティナはフランクを迎えに、ラボの建物へ来た。二人が初めて出会った、あの建物だ。
They finally replaced the clock. The old one ticked like it was counting down to something.
ついに時計が取り替えられた。前のは、何かのカウントダウンみたいに鳴ってたよね。
The night we met, I thought someone had left a very tall statue next to that bench.
初めて会った夜、あの実験台のそばに、誰かがすごく背の高い像を置きっぱなしにしてると思ったの。
To be fair, I wasn't sure you were real, either.
でも、僕だって君が本物かどうか確信はなかったよ。
Then the statue talked! And the first thing I said was, "You have stitches! So cool!"
そしたら像がしゃべったのよ！それで私の第一声が「縫い目がある！すっごくかっこいい！」。
Second thing. First, I asked where you were from, and you said, "Beyond the stars."
二言目だよ。まず僕がどこから来たのか聞いて、君は「星のかなた」って答えた。
Oh, right. ...Well, it was true!
あ、そうだった。……でも、本当のことだし！
True. Just not very specific. I was hoping for at least a street name.
本当だよ。ただ、大ざっぱすぎた。せめて通りの名前くらいは知りたかった。
Then we sat right there and talked till four in the morning. You explained every machine in this room.
それから、あそこに座って朝の4時まで話したのよね。あなた、この部屋の機械を全部説明してくれた。
You asked me eleven questions that night. I counted. I answered ten.
あの夜、君は僕に11個質問した。数えてたんだ。答えたのは10個。
Ten? Which one did you skip?
10個？どれを飛ばしたの？
The first one. "Friends? Yes? Yes?"
最初の一つ。「友達になろう？ね？ね？」
Frank, that was years ago! I already decided it meant yes!
フランク、それ何年前の話よ！とっくに「イエス」ってことにしてたわ！
I know. But I don't like leaving questions open. ...Yes. Yes.
分かってる。でも、答えてない質問を残しておくのは嫌なんだ。……うん。もちろんだよ。
